Legal Clinics As a Part of Strategic Partnership Project

The Clinical Legal Education Programme at the Faculty of Law, Palacký University Olomouc has achieved another great success. Since 1 September 2017 it has been a strategic partner in the first Erasmus + project focused on legal clinics.

This exceptional project is called Skills Transfers In Academia: A Renewed Strategy Enhancing Legal Clinics in the European Union (STARS). The project is coordinated by the Université du Luxembourg, except the Faculty of Law, Palacký University Olomouc the other partners are Degli Studi Roma Tre (Italy), University Degli Studi Brescia (Italy) and Universitetea Romano-Americana (Romania).

The project will allow the exchange of experience and mutual help in the process of inovating clinical legal education at partner universities, but it also aims to launch joint research projects with the participation of students. The international project team will organize regular meetings in the form of workshops and summer schools for students. The most current project event will be the opening project conference organized in Bucharest on November 24, 2017.

Legal clinics, which have recently experienced unprecedented boom in Europe, are well-established legal education methods enabling students to realign theory with practices, develop their professional skills and understand the ethical aspects of legal practice. The Faculty of Law has been offering optional courses at legal clinics since 1996, when the first client legal clinic in Central Europe was opened in Olomouc.
