Ondřej Svaček
JUDr. Ondřej Svaček, Ph.D. LLM. is a senior researcher in Public International Law. Besides general aspects, he specializes on international criminal law and human rights law. In M.I.E.L. he is co-responsible for tuition in the obligatory course Public International Law and also in the elective course International Criminal Law. Last and definitively not least, Ondřej is a coach of Palacký University’s teams participating in international moot court competitions (Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition and the ICC Moot Court Competition).

Education and professional experience
Ondřej studied law in Olomouc. In 2006, he was admitted as a PhD candidate at the Law Faculty in Brno, he finished PhD studies in 2011 by defense (summa cum laude) of a thesis State and Individual: Relations of Responsibilities in Decision-Making Practice of International Judicial Institutions. Ondřej also holds LLM degree in Public International Law from Oslo (2011) and bachelor degree in Political Science and European Studies from Olomouc (2008). Ondřej have lectured at numerous universities across Europe (Brno, La Rochelle, Granada, Milano, Clermont-Ferrand, Versailles, Naples, Malaga, Santiago de Compostela) and absolved research stays at the leading centers of international legal research (T. M. C. Asser Institute in the Hague, Max Planck Institute of Public International Law in Heidelberg). He has also gained practical experience at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
Research field and expertise
In his professional career, Ondřej focuses on general issues of public international law (state responsibility, jurisdictional immunities, creation of states) and more specifically on issues concerning international criminal law and human rights law (International Criminal Court, complementarity, immunities of state officials). Ondřej published 30 original works concerning these topics.
