The Faculty of Law of Palacký University Olomouc ceremonially bid farewell to the graduates of the Master’s programme in International and European Law – namely Amira Habboubi, Angela-Chiara Nardi and Halvor Nyvoll. In the historic setting of the faculty, three graduates received their diplomas, marking the successful completion of an important stage of their academic journey.
The graduation ceremony was attended by representatives of the Faculty leadership, academic staff, family members, and friends. In their speeches, the Faculty representatives emphasised not only the academic achievements of the graduates, but also their perseverance and commitment throughout their studies in an international environment.
Halvor Nyvoll, from Norway, reflected on the motivation that brought them to Olomouc:
“I already had a bachelor’s degree in law, and knew I wanted to continue down that path, but I also wanted to travel and see a country that was new for me. When I found the study program online, I saw how the city looked, and I loved the architecture. Czech culture also seemed very interesting. And I have to admit, part of the motivation was that I love beer, so what better place to study than the home of the pilsner.”
Looking back at the programme, the graduate described the experience as exceeding expectations. Close contact with professors created a supportive academic environment that encouraged discussion and individual engagement. “I found it much better than full lecture halls just listening to a professor speak,” Halvor noted, highlighting the value of direct interaction with academic staff.
Beyond academic knowledge, the graduates emphasised the personal enrichment gained during their studies. Meeting colleagues from different parts of the world and learning about diverse cultures was described as one of the most significant benefits of the programme.
Today, the paths of the graduates are already unfolding in different directions. One of them has begun working full-time at a legal consulting firm providing services to insurance companies, focusing on legal assessments in property disputes. While the position is not directly aligned with the field of international and European law, it represents an important first professional step and valuable practical experience.
During the ceremony, Angela-Chiara Nardi addressed the audience on behalf of the class. In a speech marked by gratitude and reflection, the speaker thanked the Faculty, teachers, and supervisors for their expertise, patience, and dedication. The address emphasised that their years of study had taught them far more than legal doctrine: critical thinking, perseverance, responsibility, and integrity were identified as lasting values that will guide them in their professional and personal lives.
The graduate also expressed sincere appreciation to their families and loved ones, acknowledging that their support and encouragement were essential throughout the demanding period of study. The Faculty was recognised as an institution fostering academic excellence, intellectual freedom, and a strong sense of responsibility towards society and the common good.
The achievements of the graduates reflect the international character and individual approach that define our study programme. As they leave the University as graduates, they remain part of its academic community and ambassadors of the values it upholds.
We, proud Faculty, congratulate our graduates and wish them continued success, professional fulfilment, and determination in the paths that lie ahead.
