The list of international graduates from the Olomouc Faculty of Law has grown once again. The Faculty held a ceremony to bid farewell to graduates of the International and European Law Master’s programme. Varvara Biedarieva from Ukraine, Oliver Gvoždiak from Slovakia and Daniella Alessandra Muňoz Arevalo from Peru took the graduation oath and received their university diplomas.
Dean Václav Stehlík and Vice-Deans Maxim Tomoszek and Martin Faix led the graduates, their family members and friends through the ceremony. Vice-Rector Klára Hamuľáková represented the university’s management. “I am delighted to see yet another group of graduates setting out into the world. I wish them every success, both personally and professionally,” said Martin Faix, Vice-Dean for International Affairs and Foreign-Language Study Programmes.
In her speech, graduate Varvara Biedarieva thanked the lecturers and noted that her studies were not merely about acquiring specialist knowledge. “During our studies, we gained not only new knowledge of international and European law, but also experience that we will carry forward into both our personal and professional lives. We are also taking away a wealth of shared experiences and new friendships,” she said.
She also spoke about world events and how her studies had prepared her for the current challenges facing society as a whole: “Although the world has recently been grappling with a number of difficult situations, the faculty has always been a place where we felt safe and at ease. At the same time, our studies have helped us to better understand what is happening in the world and have shown us how to approach such challenges and how we, as lawyers, should respond to them,” she added.
The two-year postgraduate Master’s programme in International and European Law focuses on international and European law. Teaching is conducted in English, and the programme is open to students from abroad as well as from the Czech Republic.
